Franklin resident Gregory L. Wade has released his first novel, “Broken Valley,” a story of life behind the Civil War lines in the Sequatchie Valley near Chattanooga. Wade will sign copies of the book at Landmark Booksellers on May 3 from 3 to 5 p.m.
“I grew up visiting the Sequatchie Valley area and remember my grandmother telling me stories she had heard about people from the Civil War,” Wade said. “The people of that area were divided and fought for both sides. I have ancestors myself who fought for both sides.”
Wade believes the story of the valley’s residents and their coping with the isolation, deprivation and fear during the Civil War is one which hasn’t been fully told.
