Bookseller
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate full-time Bookseller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for literature and excellent customer service skills. This role involves managing inventory, operating a point-of-sale system, processing book orders, and providing exceptional customer service. Prior experience in a bookstore environment is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Provide personalized book recommendations, assist customers in locating titles, and engage with customers to enhance their shopping experience.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory levels, receive new stock, restock shelves, and ensure books are displayed prominently and accurately.
- Book Orders: Process and fulfill book orders, including special orders and monthly subscriptions.
- Store Environment: Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment, including dusting, sweeping, and organizing displays.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in literature, communications, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: Prior retail or bookstore experience is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong passion for literature and a deep understanding of various genres and authors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while being self-motivated.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn our POS system.
- Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays.
Work Schedule:
- Hours: 40 hours per week.
- Availability: Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
