A Journey Through Lonesome Dove
Beginning Tuesday, June 9th, we’ll meet every two weeks through September 1st to journey through Larry McMurtry’s Pulitzer-Prize-winning epic novel of cowboys, cattle drives, friendship, loneliness, violence, regret, love, and the passing of an era.
Over the course of 7 discussions we’ll follow Gus, Call, Lorena, Newt, Clara, and the rest across one of the most unforgettable literary landscapes ever written.
If you’ve always been intimidated by the size of the novel, this is the perfect excuse to finally dive in. And if you already love it, you know there’s no shortage of things worth discussing.
Come ready for big conversations, favorite quotes, moral debates, and a lot of opinions about Gus and Call!
The West is huge. The characters are bigger. Saddle up and ride June 9th!

Join store manager Ashley Adcox as we read through the Western classic, Lonesome Dove.
“Lonesome Dove has been near the top of my TBR for years. Even though some of my favorite books (Steinbeck’s East of Eden, DFW’s Infinite Jest, and Stephen King’s Under the Dome) are sprawling epics/massive tomes, I often shy away from the commitment required for a long read. Having been part of several reading groups here at the store, I’m thrilled to start one of my own as an excuse to finally tackle a book that’s been on my list for so long!”
