Emily Harrison

Emily Peace Harrison is a children’s book author and has worked in higher education administration for nearly 20 years. She serves as the Executive Assistant to the President and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees for a private liberal arts college in Virginia. Her award-winning debut picture book, I’d Rather Be Me, was selected this year by the Children’s Book Council, Every Child a Reader, and Penguin Young Readers as an honor book for the 9th Annual Anna Dewdney Read Together Award, alongside only 6 other titles nationwide. Emily is an active member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and loves to visit students whenever she can to share her author experience. She is the mother of two grown sons and lives in Glen Allen, Virginia with her husband of 32 years and her golden chow retriever.
