Born in Birmingham, Alabama, I ventured out west where I received my BA in English Literature (minor in Creative Writing) from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1979. Drawn to the writing scene in New York City, I moved there and received an MFA in Poetry from Columbia University in 1986. After living, working, and raising my two sons in Brooklyn, New York for over thirty years, I’ve recently relocated to Franklin, happily returning to my southern roots.
