Jack Carr

Jack Carr spent twenty years in the Navy SEAL teams, rising from enlisted sniper to Special Operations Task Unit Commander, before he retired in 2016 and turned to writing. His first novel, The Terminal List, arrived in 2018 and introduced James Reece, a SEAL commander who comes home to a conspiracy and sets out to settle accounts. Every one of his novels has been a New York Times bestseller, and the series became the Prime Video hit starring Chris Pratt, followed by the prequel series Dark Wolf and a second season drawn from True Believer. Carr calls his books “fiction with whispers of truth,” and readers come back for that authenticity: the tactics, the gear, and the cost of the work on the people who do it. He has widened the shelf with Cry Havoc, a Vietnam-era prequel about Reece’s father, the new Fourth Option series with M.P. Woodward, and the Targeted nonfiction series with Pulitzer Prize finalist James M. Scott. He has signed with us at Landmark Booksellers, and in October 2026 he moderated our evening with Gary Sinise. We keep the Reece saga on hand in hardcover and paperback, so you can start with book one and keep going.
