Woman of Two Worlds: The Life of Cherokee Leader Nancy Ward by Sarah French, Jenna Lomasi
About this book
A brave voice. A powerful legacy. A woman of two worlds.
Born into the Cherokee Wolf Clan, Nanye'hi-later known as Nancy Ward-grew up with the heart of a warrior and the spirit of a protector. After tragedy struck, she answered the call to lead-becoming one of the few women ever to speak and vote in Cherokee Council meetings.
As her path intertwined with early American settlers, Nancy used her voice to seek peace and understanding between two cultures-even when it came at great personal cost. This beautifully illustrated children's book introduces young readers to Nancy Ward's real-life story: a Cherokee woman of courage and conviction who sought to lead with wisdom in a changing world. Perfect for classrooms, families, and anyone who values stories of heritage, resilience, and the people who shaped our nation's early history.
Written by Sarah French, a descendant of Nancy Ward, and illustrated by Jenna Lomasi. Ages 6 to 10. Published by BNC Books, 2025.
